FISHING BOULDER LAKE

No matter if you're casting from a dock, or working the various "hot spots" on the lake, fishing is a popular and timeless activity on Boulder Lake. Generations of folks have had their first fishing experience here on the lake, and the generally excellent water clarity helps in picking your favorite spot!

You'll find panfish like perch and bluegill, largemouth bass, and the occasional northern and crappie.   Lake maximum depth is 11 feet, and you'll find easy access with a public boat landing adjacent to the federal campground.

Boulder Lake had a fisheries survey completed by the WI DNR in Spring of 2021,  utizling a combination of fyke netting and electrofishing.  The report was completed and forwarded in September of 2021 and is available HERE.

STOP AQUATIC HITCHHIKERS:  We participate in "Clean Boats, Clean Waters" to help curb the spread of invasive species in Boulder Lake.

Follow these steps to prevent the establishment and spread of invasives:

  • Inspect your boat, trailer and equipment
  • Remove all attached plants or animals
  • Drain all water from boats, motors, livewells and other equipment
  • Never move live fish away from a waterbody
  • Dispose of unwanted bait in the trash
  • Buy minnows from a Wisconsin bait dealer, and use leftover minnows only if you will be using them on that same waterbody or if no lake or river water or other fish were added to the container.
